Meeting safely for in-person trades

Guidelines for safe face-to-face transactions.

4 min readUpdated 1 April 20263 sections

1Choose a safe location

For in-person trades, always meet in a busy, public location during daylight hours — a café, shopping centre, or public square. Never invite strangers to your home, and never go alone to a stranger's home. Police stations in Spain sometimes offer designated safe exchange zones.

2Bring someone with you

When possible, bring a friend or family member to in-person meetings. This is especially important for high-value items or when meeting a new user. Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return.

3Inspect before paying

Always inspect the item thoroughly before handing over payment. Verify it matches the listing description, test it if applicable, and ensure you are receiving exactly what was advertised. Once money changes hands, recovering it is difficult.
